Thomas & Maria | Bloom Tulip Festival engagement

29 April 2019

I've resisted shooting at the Tulip festival over the years, always offering alternatives for my interested couples in favour of locations away from the masses, locations unique and tailored to their own history.

However, the enthusiasm that Maria had for the place and with Mt. Baker as a backdrop, I was easily sold.

If you're planning on visiting or shooting here, one suggestion; go early. We bought tickets for 9am on a Friday morning, and even then we were far from alone.

Aside from the potential crowds, the biggest obstacle is the huge overhead powerline running down the middle of the field., We found ourselves really focusing on the far ends away from the industrial background.

But enough complaining.

The festival was gorgeous and we had a blast exploring the place. The staff did an incredible job setting the place up, even providing a variety of props and benches to help with photos (Including a few hot air balloon baskets!).

Before long the long rows of flowers we overrun by instagrammers, influencers, and general photo enthusiasts. With shooting near impossible we made our exit. But we had the photos and the experience we came for and with that parted, Thomas and Maria, East, a long drive back to Trail, and myself West, back to the city.
